Senior Lecturer Prof. Madya Dr. Khadijah Alavi and Associate Professor Dr. Zahara Abdul Manaf from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) visited UMM on Tuesday, 13 June 2023 to establish wider collaboration. So far, collaboration between the two universities has been ongoing through various programs, especially in the Department of Social Welfare Sciences, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, University of Muhammadiyah Malang.
The collaboration topic that is expected to develop in the future is research collaboration. As offered by DPPM UMM. Prof. Latipun, Ph.D., research collaboration is directed towards Matching Funding based on the scheme provided at each university. As with the research scheme currently being implemented at UMM, this research collaboration is mandatory for lecturers with professor positions.
In the short meeting, UMM-UKM cooperation wanted to be improved, not limited to student exchanges only. Dean of FISIP, Prof. Dr. Muslimin, M.Sc. who accompanied the meeting emphasized that the format of cooperation between the two universities would be further detailed next August, during a follow-up visit made by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities UKM to UMM again.
During the discussion, other cooperation plans were also explored in more detail, including: student and lecturer exchanges, community service activities, collaboration in the field of curriculum, and various other formats that are more likely to be realized by the two universities. That was the confirmation by UMM Vice Chancellor I Prof. Dr. Syamsul Arifin, M.Sc.
