Social science research, especially in the field of social welfare, is more focused on analysis of the emergence of various social problems and their impacts. Then how to find solutions to these social problems that emerge. That's what Prof. said. Dr. Oman Sukmana, M.Si.
The Social Researcher made this statement ahead of his inauguration as a Professor in the Social Welfare Science Study Program which will be held on June 10 2023. Based on his observations, social problems appear to be increasing, both in quality and quantity.
"Social problems faced by individuals, for example stress, depression, loss of motivation and so on, I think are increasing," he said. Currently, according to him, there are many social problems being faced both on an individual, meso and macro scale.
Social problems at the meso level that are of concern include family-related problems, group problems such as brawls, and then issues of domestic violence. Then there are macro social problems faced by society or communities, for example problems related to the waning of social trust, waning of group solidarity, then the community or society no longer provides social security for the comfort of life of a person/member of society.
According to Oman, I think social problems must be studied academically, the problems that cause them and what solutions to overcome them. That is the explanation of the Head of the Master's and Doctoral Study Program of the Sociology Study Program, University of Muhammadiyah Malang who is interested in studying Social Work Macro Interventions.
